Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. is a small environmental consulting firm with over 40 years of experience in hydrogeologic, site evaluation, remedial investigation/design, landfill services, mining and similar projects. We are seeking a qualified candidate for a position in our Tucson or Phoenix, Arizona, office.
We are looking for a motivated, experienced, Mid-Level Hydrogeologist or Geologist with proven experience in environmental investigation and remediation. This individual will be responsible for managing, directing and conducting hydrogeological evaluations and complex and multifaceted investigation and remediation projects, including managing existing and new projects. The successful candidate must have strong technical expertise in application of hydrogeological tools and techniques, data analysis and interpretation, and contaminant hydrogeology, including experience with petroleum hydrocarbons, fuel additives, chlorinated solvents, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heavy metals. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail are necessary.

Position: HGC Mid-Level Hydrogeologist/Geologist Job Description
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or similar discipline | Master’s Degree preferred
Location: Tucson or Phoenix, Arizona
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience involving contaminated site investigations and remediation
- A proven track record in managing projects
- Experience with and an understanding of Federal (CERCLA, RCRA) and state regulatory programs and requirements (experience working with state agencies and an understanding of the regulatory framework of Arizona is preferred)
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills/attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High energy and initiative, self-motivated, strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and produce results
- Proactive thinking
- Arizona Registered Geologist preferred
- Current in 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
- Experience with GIS and/or groundwater flow and transport modeling a plus
- Mining experience a plus
- Water resources and production well experience a plus
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include task and project management, hands-on scientific investigation work, data analysis and interpretation, preparing technical reports, development and oversight of field sampling and field procedures, supervision of soil and groundwater investigations, feasibility studies, remediation system design and implementation, aquifer testing and analysis, as well as business development and preparation of proposals, and assistance in staff development in technical areas.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to produce clear, concise and coherent written material. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of project/client management on multiple projects, including budgets, scope, and change orders, and proactively troubleshooting and problem solving with practical client-focused solutions.
This position will require the candidate to engage with client management, client/business development, create new business opportunities and help increase market share. Work on RFP/RFQ submittals, including project costing and proposal development/writing, will also be required. Responsibilities will include developing strong working relationships with current clients to secure additional work while developing new industry contacts and securing work opportunities where there is a potential for new work. Participation in industry organizations in business sectors where the opportunity to develop relationships with potential clients exists is expected.
Experience working with state agencies and an understanding of the regulatory framework of Arizona is preferred.
Willingness to perform limited field work, such as aquifer testing and drilling oversight/lithologic logging, if necessary.
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience.
