Charaterization of Soils and Groundwater Contamination In many landfills, particularly those in arid settings, a major mechanism for volatile organic compound (VOC) contamination is advective transport by landfill gas (LFG) originating in the landfill. As a result of its extensive experience with pneumatic and hydrogeologic properties of soils, Hydro Geo Chem has been able to demonstrate and assess this VOC transport mechanism at a number of landfills in the arid southwest.
